The palatine bone (latin: os palatinum) is a thin paired bone that participates in forming the nasal and oral cavities, as well as the pterygopalatine fossa. The palatine bone consists of two plates: horizontal plate and perpendicular plate. Description. The palatine bone is situated at the back part of the nasal cavity between the maxilla and the pterygoid process of the sphenoid.
